Monday Night Football predictions: Detroit Lions vs Baltimore Ravens featuring Lamar Jackson

This week, the NFL has lined up an exciting conclusion with Monday Night Football, featuring the Detroit Lions, who recently scored an impressive 52 points, as they head to Baltimore to face the Ravens, who have also been on a scoring spree with 40 points in each of their first two outings this season.

In 2025, these could very well be two of the most explosive offenses in the league again. However, both teams have defenses that raise concerns. More on this shortly.

Forecasts indicate pleasant weather in Baltimore for what could be a high-octane offensive showdown. The current total point line is set at 53; however, many predictions suggest final scores where both teams reach the 30s.

The Detroit Lions have had a mixed bag so far; was it really a matter of facing different opponents? The Green Bay Packers handled them well in Week 1, leading to discussions about “The Ben Johnson effect.” They then played against their former offensive coordinator, which didn’t end well.

I was surprised to see the betting odds favoring the Lions as much as they were. I get that it’s an away game, and Jared Goff typically struggles outdoors, but the weather will likely be more accommodating than indoors.

Detroit Lions (+5) at Baltimore Ravens (-5)

As I examine the live NFL odds, I see fluctuations with lines at 4.5, 5, and even 5.5. The consensus appears to favor the (-5) bet. Regardless of your betting strategy, be sure to explore your options as the market is varied for this matchup.

The uncertainty surrounding this game doesn’t surprise me; it’s an extraordinary matchup. Perhaps avoiding a side bet might be the best strategy for Monday night.

Total Points: 53

Since opening at 51.5 points, almost 95% of the bet volume has leaned towards the over. There are still some 52.5 points odds available, so remember to shop around.

The Baltimore Ravens possess a potent offense, yet they faced challenges moving the ball against the Browns last Sunday. Their scoring primarily relied on capitalizing from four turnovers, including some on downs.

The Ravens astonishingly recorded only three first downs against Cleveland. How do you put up 41 points with merely three first downs?

While the Lions’ defense may not be as formidable as Cleveland’s, I doubt they can thrive with only five chains moved against Dan Campbell’s unit.

Betting Analysis for Detroit Lions vs Baltimore Ravens

We need to address Lamar Jackson. It’s almost a foregone conclusion that he’ll perform exceptionally. He’s phenomenal and stands as a frontrunner for the MVP award early in the season. His Monday Night Football stats are remarkable.

Jackson boasts a 7-2 record with a 70% completion rate, 22 touchdowns, and not a single interception. It’s safe to rank him significantly above Goff.

Aside from this, both teams share several similarities. They’re often more successful during the regular season than in playoffs, possess stronger offenses than defenses, and prefer a ground-and-pound strategy to facilitate deep throws. Both coaches have a tough, determined approach.

While I appreciate the Lions at (+5), I anticipate a public surge of support for them, making them the most bet-on underdog of the week by kickoff. I’m inclined to steer clear of that. The over on 53 points or possibly a 52.5 bet seems more appealing.

What strikes me as a smarter wager is the Lions’ team total exceeding 23.5 points. The Ravens’ team total is comfortably over 28, and since we’re under 24 for the Lions, I’m keen to place that bet.

The Lions tend to struggle when trailing, which worries me slightly, but the Bills managed 41 points against them. Let’s hope Detroit can muster 24 points with their arsenal of offensive talent.
